About the gathering

TBD 2021

Date

Mohkinstsis / Calgary

Location

Lands To Travel Through is an artist-run gathering that will take place in Mohkinstsis/Calgary on Treaty 7 territory. This event is organized by the Alberta Association of Artist-run Centres (AAARC) and presented in partnership with Artist-Run Centres and Collectives Conference (ARCA).

Lands To Travel Through will share the work of artists, writers, community organizers, and others, who are contributing to the ongoing work of re-imagining our world. Contributions include core presentations by Faye HeavyShield, Kai Cheng Thom, and Dr. Kim TallBear, alongside projects curated by Christina Battle, Ociciwan Contemporary Art Collective, and the Lands To Travel Through planning committee.

Centering practices of care, practical strategies for recovery and remediation, conversations, and experiments in renegotiating our relationships to resources, Lands To Travel Through presents the opportunity to come together, and continue to design models for how to be, otherwise.

Lands To Travel Through is made possible through the generous support of the Canada Council for the Arts, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, the Government of Alberta, the Department of Canadian Heritage, Calgary Arts Development, and the Rozsa Foundation.
